I was at the old school 1952-1956 and during the coronation I was attending Achnamara residential school in Argyll for a month, have kept a jotter full of drawings and stories of all the wild-life we saw. I lived in Uist Street then moved to a new house in Priesthill, hope to hear from someone in that era.

The Good Old Days! - Christine Allan (Branscombe) 19/04/2010 13:30:52
Stumbled across this website by accident and took a wee trip down memory lane! Have fond memories of GHS from 1987-1991 esp.Ms Bruce(Art), Mrs Smith & Mr Scott(Geo), Mr Masterson (Tech) and Mr Moulsdale (Maths)! And who could forget Mrs Alba(English) and the eccentric(!) Dr McCallum(Science)?!!
Can't believe it's been almost 19 years since I left but have a successful career in the Civil Service so I must've been listening at some point!!
Keep up the good work! :o)

Former pupil - Alex Smith 13/04/2010 20:07:45
I left Govan High School in 1970 I was part of the forward party that had the privilage of moving to our new School from Dysart street tempory accommodation after the fire that seen our old school burn down. I am now 55 and remember my days on outward bound coarses with dedicated teachers like Mr Barkley who emegrated to Australia in 69 and Hamish Taylor who i had the deepest respect for. i am now a Works Manager working in Afghanistan Camp Bastion for the millitary as a civilian building camps and improving the infrastructure of our existing camps. Who would have thought a kid from the shipyard area of Govan would end up in such a privilaged position so many years later. Pupils of Govan High you can become anything you want as long as you apply yourself good luck to you all. If any of you know of of the 2 Teachers i have mentioned i would dearly love for you to pass on my regards or advise me of a way to track and get in touch with them i would be eternally greatful.
